I’m with the Band

Music is very important to me!  It’s what brought me and my husband together.  “Back in the day,” I was in a band and as you can tell from our faces, we took our music very seriously!  No smiling allowed. If you’ve been to any department store or boutique recently, you’ve noticed the “Band Tee” has made quite an appearance on the shelf.  So, why are we so connected to these pieces in our closet?  You can wear one and instantly everyone knows something pretty intimate about you without ever saying a word.  Bands are also emotional ties to something that we may have been going through in our lives…perhaps a break up, where you fell in love or maybe just an amazing girls night out.  Every time we wear these pieces we are instantly transported to some event in our life.  For instance, every time I think of Metallica, I think of sitting in my best friend’s bedroom in high school getting ready to go out.  Queen evokes memories of playing “Bohemian Rhapsody” over and over in the car with my friends until we had the whole thing memorized. You don’t necessarily have to love all of a band’s music.  It’s more about the connection and memory.  No matter what “face” (click here to find yours) you’re in, this is a trend anyone can “rock” anyway they want!  It’s all about personal connection!

We recently did an entire scene at a runway show centered around this trend and I thought it would be a great way to show you how you can incorporate it into your daily wardrobe.

Now, I’m no idiot. I realize these are runway looks and many of you would not wear them in your daily life as is.  However, we can gain inspiration from them.  Perhaps you have a fun girls night out or date night planned.  Pair your tee with velvet pants or a skirt and heels like I have below.  Take it to the next level with a fun jacket or vest.  Not into the heels?  Casualize it with a funky, fashion tennis shoe!

Elevate your casual band tee look by layering under a jacket, cardigan, fun colorful vest or a very of the moment kimono and pair with distressed denim.  If you’re perhaps a bit more daring, try leather shorts!  This particular kimono I received from a Rachel Zoe Box of Style subscription.  It’s a fun subscription I’ve had for a little over a year now.  You receive a box containing over $400 worth of products for just $99.  Use the code OCTOBER20 October 6-9 for an extra $20 off!  Click the link below to check it out!

I bet you didn’t know you could even wear your band tee to work!  Well, maybe not everyone can but if you’ve got a slightly more relaxed environment you could totally get away with it.  You could even consider this look below for a casual Friday.  Layer your tee under a blazer and pair with wide legged pants for a whole new meaning to “Everybody’s Working for the Weekend.”

I’d LOVE to see how you guys rock your band tees.  What are your favorite groups?  Do you have any fun concert stories?  Please share below in the comments.  I’ve linked some more fun band tees below.  Added bonus about this trend?  It’s a pretty inexpensive one!  For now, I’m out….Goodnight Cleveland!!!!
